Squirrel / Fillyjonk / Wolf / Moominpappa …. He makes many mistakes, and when refugees arrive in Moominvalley, fleeing the cold, will he do the right thing, or is it all a bit much? He survives the Great Cold, and comes to terms with his failure to learn to ski (a useful lesson for listeners of all ages). Gradually he learns to accept the strange and sometimes frightening conditions in which he finds himself.
Anxious and alone, he is forced to venture out into a frozen world, where he has to find new friends, cope with new dangers, and learn to live in a new and hostile environment. It's again an adventure story, with Moomintroll and Little My meeting plenty of previously unknown characters that stay awake during the winter, mainly Too-ticky who now lives in the bathing-house. Moomintroll wakes in the middle of winter, when the rest of his family are hibernating, and Moominvalley is deep in snow. Here is the sixth novel in the series, Moominland Midwinter, where Moomintroll wakes during the Moomin's winter hibernation and can't get back to sleep. Starring John Finnemore and Samantha Bond.
